Escobar destaca valor del Campus Mini Héroes en deporte, conciliación e inclusión.

A total of 242 boys and girls have already passed through the four shifts held, today the fifth one begins with 47 participants, one of them with a disability.

The mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, highlighted this morning «the value that initiatives like the Mini Heroes Sports Campus bring to Logroño society in important aspects such as promoting sports and healthy living, reconciling family life at such a key moment as summer, and the progress in inclusion that has been achieved in this year’s edition, which has favored the participation of children with disabilities.»

Escobar visited the Sports Campus at the start of its fifth shift, along with the president of Logroño Deporte, Francisco Iglesias, and the vice president of the entity, Laura Arrieta, a visit in which he highlighted that this work is done «at an early age, between 6 and 14 years old, we are contributing to the new generations of Logroño residents being more aware of these issues.»

Escobar emphasized that «in this year’s edition, the number of places offered has grown considerably, reaching 363 in total for all shifts, 83 more than last year, of which 97.9% have already been filled.»

Likewise, he valued «the step forward we are taking to promote inclusion with the provision of a specific reservation for children with disabilities, some of whom are already participating in the program, as is the case in the shift starting today and in some others.»

In the four shifts held, 242 participants have already gone through the initiative, and this morning the fifth shift begins with another 47. With this number, and pending the last two shifts, the number of participants this year already exceeds the number of places offered in 2024.

For these last two shifts, which will take place from July 28 to August 1 and from August 4 to 8, there are still some places available that can be requested by calling 010 or visiting the website www.logronodeporte.es.

VARIETY OF SPORTS AND WATER AREAS, AMONG THE MOST VALUED

The mayor and the officials of Logroño Deporte have been able to greet the participants in this fifth shift of the campus and share with them part of their activity program at the Las Norias sports complex, which this morning included sports games, badminton, and baseball.

The president of Logroño Deporte explained regarding the program’s development that «children share spaces and activities inclusively, although they are divided into groups to facilitate better organization in designing activities and sports that adapt to their development and abilities, within the multiple possibilities offered by the Las Norias sports complex, including aquatic activities.»

Each shift has six instructors, along with the campus coordinator, and in the activities, a general ratio of one monitor per ten participants is established.

Additionally, in cases where it is necessary – as is the case in this fifth shift – they have the support of personnel with experience in the world of disabilities to promote an enriching experience for all participants.

The feedback received in the satisfaction surveys of the completed shifts highlights the variety of sports included in the campus program, as well as the fact that, after the scheduled activity, they can repeat their favorite sports during free time. As for specific resources, the pool areas and water games are particularly valued.

Finally, the mayor emphasized that «very few cities in Spain have sports facilities of this level. Las Norias is on par with the best complexes of this type and adds to the number of facilities that we happily enjoy in Logroño, which we may not fully appreciate. Water facilities with leisure resources that are also very powerful and accessible to all Logroño residents.»
