The spokesperson for the Rioja government, Alfonso Domínguez, reported on Tuesday that the Government Council has authorized the expenditure of 885,785.47 euros to extend for one year the management contract for 55 places for dependent elderly people at the ‘San José de Calasanz’ day center in Logroño.
According to the General Directorate of Dependency, Disability, and the Elderly, the service (provided by ‘Gestión de Servicios Residenciales S.Coop’) is satisfactory, as it offers comprehensive care to users during the daytime, with the aim of improving or maintaining the highest possible level of personal autonomy and supporting families or caregivers.
Given that the contract is expiring and the need to provide these services still exists, the Government has agreed to extend it for another year, splitting the expenditure over two years: 695,095.54 euros this year and 190,689.93 euros in 2026, Domínguez explained.
Additionally, the Government Council has decided to allocate 317,689.14 euros to extend for twelve months, starting on March 6, the cleaning service with ‘Soldene S.A.’ for the five Active Participation Centers (CPA) for Older People in Rioja Baja located in Alfaro, Arnedo, Autol, Calahorra, and Rincón de Soto. The funding is divided as follows: 255,880.10 euros in 2025 and 61,809.04 euros in 2026.
ACTIVE AGEING PROMOTION PROGRAM
On the other hand, the regional Government has decided to tender for 324,786 euros (129,914.40 euros in 2025 and 194,871.60 euros in 2026) the contracting of the active ageing promotion program and prevention of unwanted loneliness and dependence in the CPA for older people. The contract duration, which will come into effect on September 1, will be one year (with the possibility of extensions for four years) and a total of three lots are planned:
Rioja Baja: Alfaro, Arnedo, Autol, Calahorra, and Rincón de Soto.
Rioja Alta: Nájera, Haro, and Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Logroño: South Zone, Manzanera, Lobete, and West Zone.
The purpose of the contract is to maintain the provision of this service, aimed at meeting the needs that older people face in their new personal and social circumstances. Specifically, it involves implementing a training program of workshops/courses and activities, aimed at promoting active and healthy ageing.
On the one hand, priority is given to biopsychosocial interventions, and on the other hand, to the prevention of dependence and unwanted loneliness, with a focus on interventions for people with greater vulnerability.
