The councilor for Social Services, Patricia Sáinz, accompanied by the president of La Rioja Sin Barreras, María Cruz Cabello, and the general secretary, Félix Fuertes, have presented the II Charity Gala La Rioja Sin Barreras, which will take place next Saturday, May 31, starting at 7:30 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium of Logroño. The event will also be the setting for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the association’s creation.
The councilor for Social Services highlighted «the satisfaction that it brings to the municipal Government Team to support initiatives like this and that, together, we achieve the greatest diffusion of this gala to ensure that, this Saturday, the seats of the municipal auditorium are filled with people willing to enjoy a great show and contribute their bit to a great cause.»
In this sense, Patricia Sainz emphasized «the great work that La Rioja Sin Barreras has been doing since its establishment in 1990, when a group of people with physical disabilities decided to join forces to improve the quality of life, social well-being, and independence of people with physical disabilities.»
«It’s been 35 years of work in favor, mainly of the collective of people with physical disabilities, but ultimately with objectives and achievements that also strengthen all of us as an integrating, supportive society that puts everyone’s abilities in tune to make Logroño better. A time in which some things are improving in terms of accessibility, but in which we must continue to take firm steps in the real defense of the rights of this collective, in improving the social resources that administrations allocate, in making the design of our city more accessible every day, and in improving their integration into the labor market to achieve their economic independence,» said Sáinz.
II CHARITY GALA LA RIOJA SIN BARRERAS
La Rioja Sin Barreras has been working since 1990 for the elimination of barriers and the integration of the collective of people with physical disabilities through social programs, rehabilitation, employment, training, accessibility, and awareness. Next Saturday, May 31, at 7:30 pm at the Logroño City Hall Auditorium, the II Charity Gala to raise funds for La Rioja Sin Barreras will take place.
The objective of this Gala is to showcase the work carried out by the Association to promote the full integration and accessibility of people with physical disabilities, and to raise awareness about the need to continue working to achieve these objectives. The Gala will be presented by ‘Bárbara la Reina de la Pantaloneta’ and the program of performances will include Varietés Riojanas, Centro Artístico Másquedanza, Las Luuss, the Choir of Friends of Plus Ultra, Corazones Integrados, and CAPDP Santa Lucía.
Tickets, which have a donation price of 6 euros, are on sale at the Association’s headquarters (Plaza Martínez Flamarique 11, ground floor), as well as at Santos Ochoa stores. They will also be available on the day of the gala at the entrance to the Municipal Auditorium.
The proceeds raised at this Gala will be fully allocated to the Accessibility Area of the Association. Ensuring universal accessibility The destination of the donations to the mentioned area is because «in this past year, there has been an increase in the demand for the services of our Technical Office for Accessibility in La Rioja (OTAR). La Rioja Sin Barreras will continue to work to guarantee universal accessibility in all corners of La Rioja, both in housing, urban planning, transportation, and communication,» stated María Cruz Cabello.
Regarding the gala, Félix Fuertes highlighted that, «in addition to being a space to enjoy performances by excellent artists who collaborate with us in various styles, it will fulfill the objective of showcasing the 35 years of work for people with physical disabilities in our autonomous community. As well as raising awareness about the need to continue working for the social integration of the collective.»
