‘La Cruz’, Alba Morena, ‘Las Petunias’, ‘Xispazo’ and the New Yorker ‘The Ballet’ complete the ‘Morrete Fest’ to bring more diversity to Logroño from June 20 to 22. A party at the Fundición venue in Logroño has served to present the complete lineup of the festival, which returns with more strength, diversity, and commitment in the historic center of Logroño.
The multifaceted local drag ‘Bárbara Reina de la Pantaloneta’ has announced each of the components of the lineup for this fourth edition just before the performance of the group ‘Tu peleas como una vaca’, which delighted the audience with a fun show.
Joining the already announced Jimena Amarillo, Hidrogenesse, Ceretti, Carmen Xía, and Fernanda Arrau, are now the names of the Venezuelan La Cruz, the New Yorker The Ballet, Las Petunias, Xispazo, and Alba Morena. They will not be alone. After the concerts, the party will move to well-known venues in the city where Girltoy and McKenzie will delight the attendees.
For the organizing team, «this is the most ambitious lineup to date, combining emerging names with established artists from the national and international queer scene and musical proposals that cross genres, generations, and emotions, bringing together talent, avant-garde, intersectionality, and diversity of genres and perspectives.»
In addition, the organization has finally presented the commemorative merchandise that its members had already shown in previous public appearances, generating so much excitement on social media. It consists of a t-shirt and a cap with the slogan of this edition «Make Logroño queer again» that will be sold at the Morrete Fest events and also online through LaFrikileria.com.
The Gylda initiative is established as one of the main events of LGTBIQ+ culture and music in Spain, both for its artistic quality and for the combination with the great enogastronomic and cultural attractions of the region. The event, organized by the volunteer members of this Riojan association Gylda, managed to bring together 7,000 people last year. The forecast for this year is similar, with a commitment to higher quality at the festival by including emerging and established bands, some of them international.
Thus, the parking lot of Revellín de Logroño will be transformed into a large stage to celebrate the culture, art, and music of the LGTBIQ+ community, with completely free access thanks to the support of sponsors such as the Government of La Rioja, Logroño City Council, and Peñaclara waters, along with local businesses.
After each day of the festival, a different ‘Morrete Club’ As a novelty, in this edition Morrete Fest will give a boost to its post-concert party, under the name ‘Morrete Club’.
As every year, the Friday evening will end with a party at Maldeamores venue after the concerts at Revellín. The one responsible for lighting up the dance floor will be the Riojan McKenzie, a regular DJ at Gylda events who, with increasing projection, will ensure the dance to the rhythm of electronic music.
It will be on Saturday when Morrete Club moves to Rever venue in Logroño, the legendary nightclub on Navarra Avenue, under the format of Morrete Club Gloss Edition, with a group of DJs who will act as hosts: the Madrid duo Girltoy. Regulars in the queer electronic scene of the capital, they advocate for a genuinely feminist and, above all, safe club culture. With sets at festivals like Sónar, Primavera Sound, or Boiler Room behind them.
Due to the nature of this Saturday party, it will be necessary to purchase a ticket that will have a price of 10 euros, which includes a drink, and can be bought in advance soon through online sales. The proceeds will go towards funding the Morrete Fest project and other cultural and social projects of Gylda.
In this regard, the organization maintains an active Bizum, which can be accessed from the section «send solidarity donations» of mobile banking applications, selecting Gylda LGTBI+ with the code 06850.
MUCH MORE THAN CONCERTS «FOR THE MORRETE»
Morrete Fest is not just about music. Since its inception in 2022 as a small cycle of free concerts or, in other words, «for the Morrete», the festival has grown with each edition to become a national reference for cultural activism and LGTBIQ+ visibility in areas far from the major cities.
The 2025 edition aligns with the thematic year of the State LGTBI+ Federation («Being LGTBI+ beyond the major cities») and reinforces its commitment to creating a safe, accessible, and free space in the heart of Logroño, open to all citizens.
Furthermore, the festival maintains its hybrid organization model between volunteering and professionalization, which allows it to offer a cared-for and quality experience, without losing its community and transformative essence.
Morrete Fest is established as a platform for discovering new voices and celebrating queer role models. This year’s programming continues to break stereotypes and offer risky, sensitive, and provocative proposals.
The day of Sunday, June 22, will be dedicated to Morrete Fest Family Camp, a day of activities for the whole family, organized in collaboration with associations and social entities of La Rioja, and with performances on stage by music students from the city. As in previous editions, Bárbara Reina de la Pantaloneta will be one of the protagonists with her drag show for all audiences, a show celebrating diversity in an accessible and festive way.
Moreover, this year the festival takes a step further by connecting with other reference projects in the region. The same weekend will see Concéntrico, the international festival of architecture and ephemeral design in Logroño, with whom we will explore the presence of the LGTBIQ+ community in the artistic and cultural sphere; and the ‘Ultimate Frisbee’ world championship, which will bring together over a thousand visitors from nearly 30 nationalities in Logroño, characterized by respect for differences through sport.
