El Auditorio del Ayuntamiento de Logroño will host two new charity concerts on Saturdays, April 12 and May 3, to benefit Proyecto Hombre La Rioja. The musical collaboration will feature Los Yankos, Los Átomos, and Jacinto Salazar in the first concert, and Ensamble Vocal de La Rioja and the duo Recuerdos del Ayer in the second.
The presentation was attended by the Councilor of Social Services, Patricia Sáinz, the director of Proyecto Hombre La Rioja, David García, the trustee of the organization, Eugenio de la Riva, and representatives of the musical groups.
Sáinz highlighted that both concerts, supported by the City Council of Logroño, «are two great opportunities to enjoy good music performed by recognized Logroño artists with different styles and, at the same time, to collaborate with a group that carries out invaluable work to help many citizens in need. For the musical quality and human warmth, undoubtedly, these are two worthwhile plans to enjoy a pleasant and charitable time.»
Patricia Sáinz also emphasized that «this association, with over 30 years of experience, is constantly adapting to the new needs that arise in the field of addictions, with or without substances. With professionalism and humanity, they ensure that all those affected have a second chance.»
In this regard, the councilor mentioned that «it is a satisfaction for the City Council to collaborate with them through a grant that is focused on a program of intervention with the families of those affected.»
She continued by stating, «to garner support for all the initiatives carried out by the association, these concerts are prepared with special care by the organizers and the artists who participate in them.»
Specifically, thanks to this initiative, funds are raised to help finance the programs carried out by Proyecto Hombre La Rioja for the treatment and rehabilitation of people with addictions, as well as programs for guidance and support for people in the socio-family environment, and workshops and awareness activities aimed at the entire community. Tickets can be purchased at the headquarters of Proyecto Hombre La Rioja (Paseo del Prior, 6) and at Santos Ochoa (Calvo Sotelo, 19 and Gran Vía, 55).
For the concert on April 12, starting at 7:00 p.m., featuring Los Yankos, Los Átomos, and Jacinto Salazar, the donation will be 10 euros. For the one on May 3, starting at 7:30 p.m., with Ensamble Vocal de La Rioja and Recuerdos del Ayer, the donation has been set at 7 euros. Los Yankos: The group opening the show on April 12, Los Yankos, began in the late 1950s and was a pioneer in what was then called «modern music.» They have always been known for choosing a repertoire of quality music and challenging themes. That’s why their fans consider them a reference group.
Los Átomos: In the late 1960s, in the neighborhood of Yagüe, the group Los Átomos was born. Their passion for music was so intense that all members enlisted together to continue rehearsing while serving in the military. This passion and effort led them to perform in venues in La Rioja, Vitoria, Bilbao, and even as opening acts for famous singers of the time like Lola Flores. After more than 45 years, Los Átomos reunited to perform the music of the so-called «prodigious decade.»
Currently, the group consists of seven musicians, three of them original members and four new additions (two keyboardists, a drummer, and a singer).
Jacinto Salazar: Jacinto Salazar is one of the most recognized voices in La Rioja, both for his work in traditional Riojan folklore, where he was known as ‘the nightingale of La Rioja’, and in other formats of popular song with his tenor vocal range, and even in stage collaborations with the theater group of Albelda.
Ensamble Vocal de La Rioja: A mixed choir made up of 35 voices, Ensamble Vocal, is one of the most innovative vocal groups that can be enjoyed in northern Spain. With a careful blending of voices and complementary instrumental and choreographic resources, they come to the concert on May 3 with a new repertoire that will surprise compared to previous performances that focused on music by decades or from around the world, to avoid pigeonholing. A surprising repertoire with complex vocal interpretations that will push the group to the limit in tonal combinations, with more than four different voices in some cases.
Miguel and Luis Miguel (Recuerdos del Ayer): The instrumental duo formed by Miguel (García Gil) and Luis Miguel (Garrido) has been performing since the 1960s in different musical groups and offers a varied repertoire using various string instruments.
